Born from a mixture of a passion for young people having an inspiring learning experience, simultaneous to suffering the absolute heartache of watching the education system fail so many children (her own included), Wellspring Tutoring & Mentoring Ltd. © was born.
Lucy could not stay ‘swimming upstream’ in a catastrophically failing system any longer. At last, breaking free from the constrains of bureaucracy and fear, she set about changing things for the better, one child; one family, at a time.
For the first time ever, Lucy experienced the absolute freedom and joy of coming alongside individual children and their families to bring hope, encouragement, support, and to rekindle a love for learning. Offering relational based learning from a trauma-informed perspective – just how it should be – Lucy says;
“Children cannot be expected to learn if they do not feel safe, valued, seen and heard.”

About Lucy Meadowcroft
With first-hand experience of the challenges of being a parent of a child with additional learning needs, living the deep trauma caused by failing schools and inadequate systems, Lucy was driven to set up Wellspring Tutoring & Mentoring ©, a home-school, educational-support business, in opposition to an archaic, Victorian, factory-based school system, sadly intent on forcing individuality and creativity into a small, suffocating, political-shaped box.
Beginning her teaching experience as a Learning Support Assistant at a special school in 2002, Lucy also spent the last year of her formal teaching career as a teacher of a SEN class in an inadequate special school. This first-hand experience of teaching children with ASC, SLCN, ADHD and Dyslexia gave her a heart for the most vulnerable. Originally trained at Post-Graduate Level in KS2-KS3 English Teaching at Exeter University (2003), Lucy’s 21 year career has allowed her to develop expertise in several subjects up to KS5.
Most of these being English Language, English Literature and Religious Education. Lucy has also had success with teaching Sociology and Media Studies at A Level. Citizenship, PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education), and History which have also made an appearance on Lucy’s repertoire. Wellspring Tutoring has now expanded to offer tutors who teach Math and Science as well.
With experience as a whole-school leader of Mental Health and Wellbeing, and several years as a Pastoral Year Head Middle Leader, Lucy puts the young person’s emotional, psychological and spiritual needs first, offering wellbeing support alongside 1-2-1 and small group tutoring. Most of all, the thousands of children and families Lucy has positively influenced are a testimony to her exceptional gift in inspiring children to be the best version of their unique and precious selves.
